Clinicians can learn about the experiences and exposures of combat Veterans who served in recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan from the Veterans Health Initiative study guide, Caring for War Wounded (2.15 MB, PDF).

Many of these Veterans are coming to VA for diagnosis and treatment of serious, as well as milder, injuries. The study guide was developed to assist clinicians in providing expert care for today’s returning service members.

The guide is useful for VA and non-VA health care providers caring for Veteran patients. Veterans and the public also may be interested in the guide to learn more about symptoms and treatment.
