VA AIDS Data - FY 2005
The Office of Quality Management of the Public Health Strategic Health Care Group has developed a summary of VA AIDS Data which is broken down by state. The period covered by this analysis was October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005.
The data table is available as a link below.
VA_Patient-Station-Records-by-State_FY05.xls
The number of true unique patients system-wide is 22,800. Zip codes found in the medical record were used to identify the state. Veterans who were seen at more than one VA facility are counted at each one as there is no way to assign a primary facility. The numbers of the facility level records in care in the FY 05 period were 25,945. There were 2,279 veterans seen at more then one facility (likely at sites in close proximity across a state line). In care was identified as any utilization at a given VA facility.
Table term “On ARV”- is at least one outpatient prescription or inpatient medication filled for an FDA approved ARV. Table term “Clinical AIDS”-1993 CDC criteria for a clinical AIDS
diagnosis (not a CD4 lymphocyte count or percentage diagnosis). Table term “AIDS+ ARV”-meet the criteria for one ARV and a Clinical AIDS diagnosis.
We hope that people find this information helpful.
