• VA Recognizes "Presumptive" Illnesses in Gulf War, Iraq, and Afganistan Veterans: VA is publishing a proposed regulation that will establish nine specific infectious diseases as associated with military service in Southwest Asia during the Gulf War from 1990 to the present and in Afghanistan on or after September 19, 2001. Eligible Veterans may receive disability compensation for these diseases after the final regulation is published.
• VA Plans to Automate Agent Orange Claims Process: VA is asking the private sector for input on an automated Veterans' claims process to speed up the Agent Orange claims process. VA offers disability compensation and health care benefits to Vietnam Veterans with diseases associated with Agent Orange exposure.
